Summary
Naomi
has been a tenant of 4KBW since October 2009, following successful
completion of pupillage with the set. Her practice consists
primarily of Civil and Employment law; she is also able to conduct
criminal proceedings in both the Magistrates’ and Crown courts.
Naomi has a strong academic background, achieving the award for highest
overall mark on the Bar Vocational Course at the University of the West
of England.

Employment
Naomi appears for both employers and employees in Employment Tribunals
at all stages of proceedings, from case management discussions and pre
hearing reviews to final hearings. Her practice includes a wide
variety of claims, from ordinary and automatic unfair dismissal through
to race, sex and disability discrimination. She also has
experience of representing parties at mediation.
Naomi gained experience in Employment law prior to coming to the Bar,
having studied the area on the BVC and worked within the Employment
department at a regional solicitors' firm.
Civil
Naomi has acted for both claimants and defendants in Small Claims and
Fast Track hearings; these have included neighbour boundary disputes
and mis-selling/FSA claims as well as personal injury cases and road
traffic accidents. Naomi has experience in drafting pleadings in a
variety of civil claims and frequently advises on both liability and
quantum in personal injury cases, including advices for infant approval
hearings and breach of statutory duty such as occupiers’ liability and
claims under the Highways Act 1980.
Crime
Naomi receives instructions for both defence and prosecution. She
appears in both the Magistrates’ and Crown courts, including the Youth
Court, for a range of cases such as those involving dishonesty, drugs,
offences against the persons, sex allegations, benefit fraud, public
order matters and driving offences.

Notable Cases
- Cho & Cho Jung v Dun 25 Ltd & Samurai Sushi Ltd
(May 2010): Counsel for the Respondent in an 8 day trial. The
primary claim in the case was for unfair dismissal (both ordinary and
automatic), supported by claims regarding protected disclosures,
unlawful deduction from wages, breach of contract and of TUPE
Regulations.
- Fombo v Bread Youth Project & Others (October
2010): Counsel for the Respondent in a 5 day trial. The Claimant
brought a claim for unfair dismissal, race and age discrimination
against BYP, a charitable organisation in Bristol.
